Community Relations Coordinator - Inpatient Psychiatric Unit

Overview:

Market the Nexus managed adolescent behavioral health units, build community relations, and provide follow-up liaison support following discharge from the program.

Responsibilities: 

1. Coordinate the development and implementation of a marketing plan for the Riverside behavioral health units; nurture and promote the program’s services to surrounding communities. 

2. Facilitate the review of referrals and coordinate admissions into the behavioral health units. 

3. Provide liaison services for discharged clients and participate in discharge planning. 

4. Provide marketing updates/reports to Program Manager on an ongoing basis. 

5. Attend and participate in staff meetings and required training sessions. Understand and support the medical center’s and Nexus’ philosophy and treatment modalities.

6. Ensure confidentiality regarding patient issues, background and treatment and comply with medical center policies involving patient privacy and confidentiality rules for patients and their families.

7. Perform other job and work-related responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed. 

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes 

 Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of referral agency guidelines, as well as medical center admission process.
 Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively market the behavioral health units and its programs through networking and relationship building in the course of the referral and admission process.

 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities and perform activities in a manner that makes the best use of existing resources, staff and time. 

 Demonstrate the ability to work with a team of program staff and medical center departments to achieve common goals. 

 Exhibit a spirit of cooperation among co-workers and comply with corporate and medical center policies and procedures. Display ethical conduct and professionalism at all times, with particular emphasis on protecting resident confidentiality and representing the medical center in a professional and ethical manner. 

 Continually seek knowledge of and exhibit an understanding and acceptance of differences in gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion and disability to better appreciate staff and patients within the program. 

 Remain current on all required training and certifications for the position.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree required; masters within a related field preferred. 

Minimum of 3 years experience in the mental health inpatient or residential treatment field required. 

Previous marketing experience preferred. 

Valid driver’s license and driving record that satisfies corporate policy and insurance parameters.
