Position Summary:

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, seeks a junior faculty member in the area of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Systems Pharmacology or related area for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department seeks to extend its longstanding distinction and a rich history of excellence in the diverse disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (http://www.pharmaceuticalsciences.buffalo.edu) is strongly research-oriented, with 20 faculty members from diverse scientific disciplines who share common interests in discovering, developing and optimizing drug therapies. Our research and graduate education programs span various aspects of small molecule and protein drug discovery and development through multi-disciplinary research in experimental therapeutics, mathematical modeling, drug delivery, drug metabolism and transport, pharmacogenomics, systems pharmacology, and drug analysis.

We seek a junior faculty member with suitable graduate and post-doctoral training and experience for a tenure-track position. The successful candidate must have a PhD or other doctoral degree in pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, translational science, or engineering and have suitable academic credentials expected for the rank of Assistant Professor with a developing research program in translational medical research, systems pharmacology, pharmacokinetics / pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, drug metabolism, or drug delivery. Candidates should possess capabilities for attracting extramural research support and expect to contribute to the educational and research missions of the department, School, and other SUNY academic units.

Available resources include state of the art computational and bioanalytical facilities, laboratory space at the recently constructed Kapoor Hall, and access to resources of the University’s Academic Health Center, which includes Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Health Professions, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Department is part of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which was founded in 1886 and is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (current accreditation period is through June 30, 2020). The University at Buffalo is the State University of New York’s largest and most comprehensive research-intensive university, and is its primary center for professional education and training, as well as a member of the Association of American Universities. The University at Buffalo is a member of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), a consortium of the region’s leading health care, research, and medical education institutions. The BNMC is dedicated to the development of world-class medical environment for clinical care, research, education, and entrepreneurship.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD or other doctoral degree in pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, translational science, or biomedical engineering with post-doctoral experience and strong academic credentials in a topical area of pharmaceutical sciences including potential for extramural research funding and interest in interacting in departmental and university academic and research programs.


Preferred Qualifications:

Above plus ongoing extramural research support and collaborative scientific relationships.
