Network Administator

Summary/Objective:

The Network Administrator is responsible for engineering and designing all aspects of the Agri-Valley Communications, Inc. telecommunications network. The Network Administrator needs to possess a general working knowledge of all services provided by Agri-Valley Communications, Inc. including but not limited to 4G LTE, DSL, Wireless Data, and fiber to the customer.  

Essential Functions:

1.       Responsible for the engineering, design and maintenance of new and current network infrastructures.

2.       Performs research and investigates new technologies applicable to the network and internal/external customers.

3.       Creates and maintains documentation, including but not limited to network mapping, MOPs, diagrams, etc.

4.       Responsible for administering, as set forth by company policies and procedures, all security measures to control internal/external access to the corporate network.

5.       Assist in resolving network related issues.

6.       Serve as Tier I response for network issues and as Tier III for all escalated customer complaints.

7.       Responsible for regularly monitoring and reporting the performance/capacity of the network.

8.       Communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

9.       Perform job duties within Company health and safety requirements. 

Qualifications:

1.       Training and at least five years of on-the-job experience.

2.       Expert understanding of BGP, Ethernet switching, fiber optics, CLI, UNIX/LINUX, Cisco, HP, etc.

3.       Extensive knowledge in all aspects of internal and external network security.

4.       Working experience with various fiber transport equipment.

5.       Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, NAT and routing protocols (BGP, iBGP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS and RIP).

6.       Strong Cisco networking experience.

7.       Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize projects and establish schedules for timely completion.

8.       Ability to work independently and/or with a technical team under tight deadlines.

9.       Successfully complete pre-employment background screening. 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Travel Requirements:

This position requires a valid driver’s license for travel necessary to perform job duties.    

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. Dress should be appropriate for frequent customer service interaction and community outreach. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time regular position. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with on-call responsibilities.
