Technology Integration Specialist

Position Overview

The Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) is directly accountable to the Director of Technology, with evaluative input from the Middle School Division Head. The primary responsibility of the TIS is to support the faculty integration of technology in the school’s curriculum, while ensuring the integrity of the student learning experience. The TIS works to implement the Goals and Criteria and the philosophy of Sacred Heart Schools education.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish an environment which encourages creative, independent and responsible use of technology.
  • Assist educators in the design and development of technology rich lessons and curriculum that improves student learning.
  • Assist educators with the evaluation and selection of technology tools.
  • Encourage and support teacher experimentation with current and emerging technologies.
  • Implement, update and maintain digital citizenship / technology classroom instruction.

General Duties:

  • Assist with content, quality and continuity of the most updated instruction of technology curriculum, coordinated with overall technology vision at SHS
    • Plan new methods of integration into the classroom units
    • Responsible for meeting with teachers to plan for implementing technology into the academic program
    • Provide current, relevant materials for faculty and students
    • Plan opportunities and provide support for computer lab use when necessary
  • Develop student technology skills with a focus on information literacy, digital citizenship and responsible use of technology
  • Maintain an awareness of new technology products, trends and advances
    • Conduct in-service sessions for faculty instruction on technical integration skills
    • Provide technical instruction to faculty and students
    • Responsible for own professional growth and continuing education
    • Review, evaluate and recommend technology purchases that are in line with technology budget
  • Maintain good order of devices
    • Maintain good order of Computer Lab
    • Maintain inventory control of all the hardware and licensed and supported software in the lab
    • Assist with managing and monitoring student devices, and computer carts
    • Assist with troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues
  • Participate as a member of the technology committee and/or teams
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Technology

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education required (Technology area preferred)
  • Masters Degree in Education preferred (Technology area preferred)
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Organizational and follow through skills
  • Ability to collaborate well with a team      
  • Experience with K-8 students and teachers preferred
  • Familiar with educational technology, software and iPad apps
