Camp Dearborn Recreation Field Assistant

RATE OF PAY:          $9.00 per hour                                         MINIMUM AGE:      16 years of age

PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT:                        Camp Dearborn in Milford, MI

HOURS/PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:  Seasonal position

First full week in June through through Labor Day – 7-Day Operation.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.  Time off during this period is extremely limited.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

These employees run the children and adult programs for campers at Camp Dearborn.  In addition to daily activities such as exercises, arts and crafts, and games, these employees will also

run special events such as a mini carnival, evening games, various contests, and movie nights.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):

·         Teaches arts and crafts and campfire singing.

·         Organizes elementary games as well as games and sports of a higher degree of skill.

·         Assists in planning and organizing special events.

·         Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other employees and the general public.  (An outgoing personality with a good sense of humor is helpful.)

·         Responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the area and equipment.

·         Wears required uniform.

·         Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Experience working with children in an organized setting preferred.

Must submit to a criminal history check and pre-employment physical/drug screen.
