Powertrain Integration Engineer

Powertrain Integration Engineer with Rivian Automotive LLC (Livonia, MI)

Work with purchasing to determine suppliers for thermal commodities such as hoses, pumps, valves, tubes, heat exchangers, and interfacing components. Package thermal components in vehicle environment using CAD tools. Monitor and communicate technical supplier issues and development status from initial contract award through production launch and volume production. Lead technical solutions with supplier to ensure components meet design intent. Lead the response to issues for assigned components arising from packaging, control system development, vehicle integration testing, durability, vehicle builds, manufacturing, and serviceability. Participate in trade-off discussions with other groups for design issues that cross into other areas such as body and interior. Participate in the development of system and component requirements and supplier validation procedures related to components released by the team. Work with procurement, lead the supplier development of DVPs, FMEAs, and documentation leading to PPAP prior to volume production. 

Requires a Master's or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related, and progressive post-Bachelor's experience (1 year with Master's or 3 years with Bachelor's), which must include some experience with the following: conducting supplier assessments as a process participant prior to supplier sourcing; development and implementation of thermal components for vehicular thermal systems with suppliers; working cross-functionally with CAE engineers (mechanical and system simulation) to fulfill program/component design deliverables; vehicle development and production launch with an OEM and major tier 1 supplier; facilitating supplier development of DVPs, FMEAs, and documentation leading to PPAP prior to volume production; and CATIA CAD v.5 and v.6.
