Part-Time Motion Picture Arts Department Assistant

Description:
Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America's most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts presentations seeks to hire a Part-Time Motion Picture Art Assistant. The Motion Picture Assistant will work up to 28 hours per week providing administrative support to the Division Director and Motion Picture Arts Department. Duties include general clerical, budget and project based work, ordering and tracking departmental supplies, inventory of equipment on stage, scheduling and coordination of special screenings and events, as well as helping to maintain the classrooms, commons and studio.

Major Responsibilities:
Administrative:
* Perform general clerical duties
* Manage budget & receipts
* Purchase orders and credit card purchases
* Research and manage purchase orders for department supplies
* Manage travel and lodging arrangements for guest artists and faculty
* Coordinate shipping and receiving artwork
* Organize and schedule student field trips
* Coordinate funding requests for visiting artists

Future of Cinema and Motion Picture Arts Showcases:
* Ability to work occasional evenings to help with events and coordination of multimedia and special guest events
* Coordinate with faculty/students on promotional materials for screenings and lectures
* Work with designated students to help maintain and organize content for marketing access and displays in DeRoy Commons of special guests and student work

Most of the time is spent working in the with the Division Director to facilitate daily operations of the Motion Picture Arts Department. Challenges are most often with the variety of events on the calendar that require assistance: student productions, availability/research of specialized motion picture arts technology, travel plans/itineraries for Division Director, faculty, and guests of the department with changing schedules.

Qualifications:
* Candidates must possess at least a bachelor's and preferably a master's degree, in a field of education or the arts, or a combination of a degree in a field related to the position, i.e. arts or education administration, marketing, public relations or communications or equivalent assistant work experience.
* Work and leadership experience in education in an arts, education or cultural institution.
* Professional verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in using Google programs including Google Drive and Google Calendar, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
* Ability to pay careful attention to detail
* Take initiative and work well with others
* Interest in and respect for artists and artworks, familiarity with a variety of motion picture arts cameras/equipment
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for movement of boxes and pedestals and ability to use tools and stepladders.

Compensation and Benefits:
A competitive hourly wage is being offered, wage will commensurate with experience and qualifications. TIAA pension plan options, Medical plan & Interlochen Center for the Arts is closed during holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.
