SUMMARY:

Overall responsibility for the planning and directing of the hotel personnel including all related management functions.


EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATION

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor Degree in Business or related field with two years hospitality experience in a managerial position or related field or 6 years hospitality experience in a supervisory position, with at least two years at managerial level.
  • Working experience managing an onsite call center or reservations, setting rate structure and strategies using yield management techniques preferred
  • Working experience in laundry and housekeeping operations, managing par and inventory levels, and understanding of MSDS procedures preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License (Chauffeur’s license within 90 days of employment) and be insurable on Company’s Policy and have experience operating a variety of motor vehicles, including automatic and manual transmissions
  • First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
  • At least 21 years of age

  • Strong computer skills with experience in word processing, databases, Outlook and spreadsheets (ability to demonstrate proficiency)

  • Display leadership qualities and have the ability to serve both internal and external customers while maintaining a professional demeanor

  • Able to manage departmental budget and control labor and expenses, independently manage multiple tasks in a professional manner and maintain high confidentiality
  • Able to manage extensive amounts of paperwork.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.        Assists in managing all aspects of LRCR Hotel Operations and personnel.

2.        Ensures proper distribution of assignments for adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment for Hotel Operations.

3.        Assists the Hotel Director in determining fiscal requirements; makes projections and prepares departmental budget; monitors, verifies, and reconciles expenditure of budgeted finds; ensures compliance with Little River Casino Resort policies and procedures.

4.        Oversees daily reservations and rate structures for Hotel and RV Park.

5.        Maximizes room and site revenue by using established yield management techniques. Sets seasonal rate strategies.

6.        Forecasts room revenue, ADR, occupancy and RevPar on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

7.        Plans and coordinates hotel/RV Park functions including group bookings.

8.        Refers and follows up on maintenance issues, problems with engineering to protect Little River Casino Resort assets and ensure a safe, accident-free environment for our guests and employees.

9.        Report generation to include room market segmentation and pace report, ADR and RevPar on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis.

10.    Coordinate with gaming departments and casino hosts to support and plan their VIP reservations.

11.    Player development to include relationship building with customer base.

12.    Maintains working knowledge of all Little River Casino Resort operations, programs, events, promotions and services.

13.    Maintains familiarity with the Manistee area.

14.    Ensures night audit functions are completed and that all front office paperwork is compliant with Gaming Commission guidelines.

15.    Develops and oversees training plan for all hotel positions.

16.    Resolves customer complaints concerning hotel operations in a timely fashion.

17.    Develops and maintains proper merchandise displays in accordance with planned promotions and events. Also oversees purchasing.

18.    Develops, implements, and evaluates hotel operations sales progress, promotions, policies and procedures and budgets.

19.    Oversees the daily operation of all areas of the hotel.

20.    Responsible for hiring, retaining, performance evaluation, training, promoting, developing preference candidates, disciplining, and terminating employees with concurrence of the General Manager, Human Resources Director, and Department Director.

21.    Must adhere to the safety rules and regulations of the Little River Casino Resort and of the Hotel department.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to communicate using written, verbal and computer methods.  Must be able to operate computer equipment for extended periods of time.  Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods in excess of 4 hours.  Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for long periods of time.  Must have a good sense of balance and be able to bend and kneel.  Must be able to push, pull and grasp objects.  Must have the ability to independently lift up to ­35 pounds occasionally.  Must have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate computer equipment.  Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Office, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke.  Extensive computer use.  Must be flexible with work schedule.  Must be willing to work any hours and/or shift, as assigned, according to business needs.  Occasional overtime required.  Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals.  High volume direct public contact.

Conditions of employment with Little River Casino Resort include passing a pre-employment drug test, a background investigation to secure a gaming license and successfully completing a three-month introductory period.  Candidates for this position will be required to have dependable transportation available to them.  Must also maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable on our company’s policy throughout your time of employment with the Little River Casino Resort.  Individual must not have been charged or released from employment or involved in anything that could be considered a liability to the Resort, e.g. harassment, theft, violence, or integrity issues.
