Oracle Database Administrator
vAuto, a Cox Automotive brand is currently looking for an Oracle Database Administrator experienced in database development using Oracle to join our team in Austin, TX.
Job Summary:
As an Oracle Database Administrator you will help with the design, implementation and maintenance of complex database driven applications in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the design and configuration of the next generation development and production of Oracle based data environments. Working as the Oracle Database Administrator you will collaborate closely with Cox Automotive’s managed hosting team in the monitoring and maintenance of these production and development environments.

Your Role:
Development and management of schemas, tables, packages, triggers, and views to support application requirements, perform application design and tuning
Implement data models and database designs into physical databases
Conduct growth monitoring and capacity planning in order to maximize resources
Database code release management
Manage user creation, roles, and privileges to secure data and structures
Develop database level monitoring for application related issues
Proactively diagnose and work with application developers to resolve application SQL performance issues using available tools
Develop and POC new database development techniques and communicate to application teams
Develop and POC new Oracle features to improve application efficiency, responsible for overseeing Oracle data architecture changes
Be an in-house expert for Oracle data architecture and work with the Operational Database Administrator to plan database capacity to support application growth
Work with Development team to review code and do deployments
- Manage database monitoring to ensure proper alerting for system issues
Qualifications
Required Experience:
BS in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent work experience.
Extensive experience with Oracle 11+ (Oracle Certification a plus)
Previous programming experience in an Object Oriented Programming language in a professional environment
What We Look For:
SQL Tuning experience using AWR, ASH, tkprof, etc.
In depth understanding of how Oracle works
Good working knowledge of stored procedures, triggers, functions, packages, partitioning and indexes
Some Development experience as well as previous DBA experience
Strong PL/SQL development experience
Experience with data partitioning/archiving strategies
Experience with Materialized views
Experience with clustered database systems including Oracle RAC
Good working knowledge of UNIX shell scripting a plus
Experience with .Net and C# is a plus, but not required
