Automotive Sales Engineer

Petoskey Plastics is seeking a Sales Engineer to be responsible for the following:

  • Work with customers on initial design, revision and development of Automotive OEM products
  • Manage sales activities including customer plant visits, appointment setting, and conducting well-structured sales calls
  • Search for and find new opportunities at current customer locations and new
  • Quote and follow-up on sales leads
  • Prepare and deliver sales reports
  • Advise management of sales trends in the assigned regions based on discovery from field research
  • Monitor competitive activity and trends within territory
  • Represent the company at trade and association meetings to sell and promote products
  • Understand lead times and work closely with sales coordinators and warehouse to maintain on-time delivery
  • Answer incoming calls regarding orders, issues relating to orders, and enter information into systems

Knowledge and Skills preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Analytical, mathematical and other quantitative skills
  • Effective communication skills - verbal and written
  • Direct selling experience
  • Courage to ask for the business and close sales
  • Service oriented approach to problem solving
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Contact management software experience
  • Able to fly and drive, long and short distances
