Direct Behavior Therapist

As a Direct Behavior Therapist, you will provide direct instruction based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Instruction will be individualized to the child and designed to increase social, communication, and daily living skills and decrease behavior problems. Direct instruction will occur in the natural context of a child’s home, school, or other community setting. You will be in frequent communication with your supervisor, providing ongoing feedback and data as necessary to support the coordination and provision of high quality ABA therapy services.

This is a fee-for-service position that includes daytime and afterschool hours, based on location and client availability. This position will start at part-time but may develop to full-time hours within the first few months based on client availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet 1 to 3 clients per day for an average of 2 to 3 hours per client
  • Implement specially designed programs that include developing academic skills, play skills, daily living skills and communication and social skills
  • Record data and document of how each child responds to their programs, their behavior and their progress each day; share with supervisor weekly; assist in preparing materials for programming as assigned by supervisor
  • Submit narrative reports of each session and hours worked every day
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled

Qualifications:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preferred; RBT eligibility required
  • Minimum 6 months experience working with children; experience working with children who have developmental disabilities preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Ability to learn electronic data collection system required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact with children, i.e. running and implementing physical intervention strategies if necessary
  • Comfortable working with children who display behavior problems
  • Understanding of proper professional and communication boundaries in terms of families and supervisors
  • Ability to defer to supervisors in program development, modification and report writing as appropriate
  • ABA experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of special education preferred
