Summer Intern - Human Resources

Job Functions:
  1. Coordinate and support HR generalist activities following established procedures
  2. Prepare, process, verify, and maintain personnel (HRIS and hard copy) related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and classifications.
  3. Prepare individual compensation analysis’ for review with generalists.
  4. Create, improve and update HR templates and controlled documents.
  5. Coordinate semi-monthly Travel Report and distribute to required departments
  6. Coordinate, monitor and distribute monthly MTU All-Star Program including nomination, review and announcement
  7. Maintain and audit employee data in HR information system involving data entry and moderate problem solving skills.
  8. Support HR recruitment activities and HR reporting
  9. Provide supplemental support to the Payroll/Benefit team, e.g. CI Awards, New Employee Folders, I9 filing, on as needed basis.
  10. Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws by supporting reporting requirements, auditing HR documentation, and following established procedures.
  11. Keep management abreast of progress and pending problems.
  12. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Global Code Of Conduct.
  13. Perform special projects and tasks as required.

Required:
1. Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Labor relations or Organizational Development and having completed a minimum of one year of college.
2. An outstanding academic performer 3.0 / 4.0 GPA or equivalent academic requirement. Lower GPA considered if coupled with relevant experience.
3. Good problem solving experience.
4. Good oral and written communication skills.
5. Proven experience handling complex class room projects.
6. Working knowledge of office equipment (fax and copier).
7. Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.
8 Ability to work effectively with others.
 
Preferred:
1. Interested in a career at MTU America.
2. Pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Resources.
