Technical Supervisor, Ductal®

PURPOSE

As a member of the Ductal® team, the Ductal® Technical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the successful completion of all technical aspects related to the performance of the Ductal® concrete product in field projects across North America and the development of new formulations. The incumbent coordinates multiple projects at one time while overseeing quality, troubleshooting technical issues with contractors, training and supporting customers along with supervising and overseeing projects by being on-site throughout North America.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Business Unit.
  • Training of customers and Universities in utilizing Ultra High Performance Concrete technology.
  • Inspection of construction activities in accordance with established quality procedures.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.
  • Perform field tests on plastic materials in accordance with the established quality procedures using the appropriate testing equipment to determine acceptance.
  • Training of interim workers on proper work methods.
  • Safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing reports.
  • Contact assigned direct report for priorities and deadlines for assigned tasks.
  • Co-ordinate concurrent projects ranging from $2,000 to $10 million in value.
  • Provide assistance to contractors and customers on the manufacture of the Ultra High Performance Concrete products.
  • Provide technical support to customers, universities and government agencies.

 

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

This position involves constant communication with foremen and labourers while on-site. Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to maintain product quality while continuing production output at an optimum level. Communication will also include daily correspondence with Ductal® Bridge Construction Project Managers for guidance, assignments and schedule updates.

The Ductal® Technical Supervisor will also take part in the Ductal® business development in a defined region under the supervision of a Bridge Construction Project Manager. This will include commercial activities such as workshops, training, product development, quoting, etc.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:  Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's/Graduate Degree

Field of Study Preferred:  Civil Engineering/Construction Management

Required Training/Certifications:  OSHA 10-Hour and ACI Field Technician Level 1 are a plus    

Required Work Experience:   1- 4 years, preferably within the construction industry

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Excel and Word

MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Frequent travel is required within the tri-state area and to various out of state job-sites.
  • Approximately 50 to 75% with majority within the Greater New York City area.
  • Must possess a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Valid US drivers license and passport.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Work outside and subject to weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards and exposed to noise, dust, and fumes.
  • Work on ladders and scaffolding.
  • May work protracted or irregular hours.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours due to client needs (i.e. other than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and/or other than Monday through Friday).
  • Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to client offices and project locations.
