IT Project Management Intern
This position is for an Agile
Project Management Organization (APMO) Internship role at Grosvenor Capital Management. As an APMO
intern, you will have the opportunity to both work alongside industry and
technology experts as a member of the IT department, as well as deliver on an
independent project.
During a typical APMO internship, candidates will have the opportunity to shadow certified Scrum Masters and Project Managers who are dedicated to their teams and practices. Interns will have opportunities to grow their skillsets around meeting facilitation, challenging teams to improve and grow, helping developers establish and stick to timelines, removing impediments and roadblocks to progress and partnering with the Product Management and Development practices to deliver value.
The candidate should be available to dedicate 10 weeks during summer months working 40 hours per week during that period.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The
individual will be involved in the following critical activities:
- Work with GCM leaders to select a project or
series of deliverables that you will complete during your time at GCM.
- Create an approach, design and execute on your
deliverables with a final presentation of your completed project / deliverables.
- Leverage hands on experience with technology,
learned practical approaches to solving real world business problems through
technology and deliver a finished product.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- The
ideal experience and critical competencies for the role include the following:
- The candidate should be
pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or
similar degree. Also, the candidate
should be in the second semester of sophomore year or greater.
- Interest in learning the skill
sets needed to become a Project Manager or Scrum Master in an Agile environment.
- Interest in financial services
and/or investment management, a strong plus.
- Strong
interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to recognize
impediments/blockers to projects and escalate them appropriately.
- Ability to adapt within a
rapidly changing environment and has experience in/knowledge of Agile or
iterative software development is a plus.
- Attention to detail and concern
for quality and accuracy of final product (and ability to balance that concern
with deadlines).
- Demonstrated team player,
self-starter, and independent thinker.
- Outstanding decision making and
problem solving skills.
- Eager to learn how to coach
teams/people as opposed to managing them.
- Experience with Microsoft
Office 2007/2010/2013.
- Experience with Microsoft
Exchange 2010, O365.
- Experience with SharePoint is a
plus, but not a requirement.
- Experience with JIRA is a plus,
but not a requirement.
