OPEX Intern
PCI Pharma Services (PCI), the industry leader in contract pharmaceutical packaging has an immediate need for a Continuous Improvement Intern for its Rockford, IL location. This intern will support Operations Excellence (OPEX) initiatives through deployment of continuous improvement techniques and strategies. Techniques and Strategies can include but are not limited to the following: 5S, Standardized Work, Process Flow (spaghetti mapping), Line Balancing, Training, and Effective Communication.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Act as a Change Agent for the business through effective coaching which can include preparation, practice, adjustment, and review (data collection)
- Daily monitoring of daily performance metrics when required
- Provide feedback as needed to production and maintenance in and out of daily huddles/meetings.
- Ongoing generation of ideas for process improvements following the PDCA methodology. Specifically tied to intern project(s).
- Interact with internal customers (PCI Associates) specific to line activities for lean initiatives.
- Support and monitor the ongoing implementation of lean activities including but not limited to Lot In/Lot Out Activities, Visual Control Boards, 5S, Process Flow Improvement and Gemba Walks.
- Provide status update to both floor personnel and management through effective communication.
- Adherence to PCI and cGMP policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Attendance to work / detail is an essential function of this job.
- Promote benchmarking with other areas/departments within the plant or sister plants.
