Computer Vision Engineer

Job Summary
Velodyne LiDAR, Inc. is looking for a highly experienced candidate to work on SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping). The successful candidate will collaborate with R&D personnel to develop and implement new algorithms, conduct experiments, and implement new features for LiDAR sensors.
 Job Responsibilities
 Conduct advanced research and product development for real-time 3-D SLAM using LiDAR sensor
  • Strong background in computer vision, augmented/mixed reality, image processing, and related fields
  • Expertise and Hands-on experience in computer vision especially in 3D SLAM, camera calibration, image/video-based modeling and object recognition, camera pose estimation
Job Requirements
  • Experience in providing high level C/C++ or MATLAB models suitable for FPGA/ASIC hardware implementation.
  • Solid understanding of core vision and estimation algorithms
  • Strong research and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient with C/C++, MATLAB,
  • Experience with computer vision libraries (OpenCV)
  • Experience with open source software related to SLAM
  • Experience with research projects that are published in top venues (ICCV/CVPR/ECCV/ISMAR/VR, etc)
  • Experience in real-time computer vision systems
  • Preferably have experience with LiDAR and image/video sensor fusion
  • A minimum of 7 year of experience developing computer vision solutions
Education Requirement
  • Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering field with a focus on robotics
