SALARY: $55,000- $60,000 annually

Job Description:
Summary of Position:
The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office, and is often the first point of contact for employees. The incumbent must exhibit excellent customer services skills, and have a professional demeanor at all times. The highest level of confidentiality is required.

This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment and exit process, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Essential job functions:
• Under general supervision, administer the full range of HR support within a department.
• Oversees new hire process: generate offer letters and conduct background checks; processes new hire paperwork and schedules and conducts new hire employee orientations.
• Data entry employee information into HRIS system
• Oversee separation process including off-boarding and exit interviews.
• Assist with policy and procedures including; developing human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assisting in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; preparing and maintaining the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
• Provide guidance and support to employees on Mills practices and policies, as well as State and Federal regulatory compliance.
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of personnel issues.
• Actively participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems and documentation
• Provide input on department restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
• Oversee campus-wide performance goal process.
• Oversee and maintain the anti-harassment online training and completion report
• Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
• Foster a workplace environment consistent with company's values and vision.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain employee records and files in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Participates in work group/committees as requested.
• Additional tasks and project as assigned.

Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
• Intermediate knowledge of HR laws and regulations at the federal and state levels.
• Data management, oversight and administration within a complex HRIS environment.

 Skills:
• Excellent consulting, conflict management, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem solving and data analyzing.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office

Abilities:

• Maintain a high level of oral and written communication within and on behalf of a diverse, multi-cultural employee and managerial population;

Education and Training:
• A minimum of 3-4 years of general, hands-on HR experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in Higher Education, and/or education non-profit sector preferred.
• SPHR/PHR certification preferred.

Additional Information:
Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $55K to $60K per year, and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403(b) retirement plan, 10 days of vacation for year one, 15 days of vacation for years 2-10, and 22 days of vacation years 10+ plus, 12 sick days and 10 paid holidays annually. Staff members also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period. Pet insurance, long-term care insurance and legal-assistance insurance are available as voluntary benefits.
