Sanitation Supervisor

Sanitation Supervisor:

The Sanitation Supervisor will report to the Plant Manager, and be responsible to direct and coordinate activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plan and direct sanitation activities and establish sanitation priorities for cleaning products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinate sanitation activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum sanitation and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Develop and implement cleaning methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality and cleaning effectiveness.
  • Revise sanitation schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Conduct hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve sanitation data.

Essential Requirements:

  • Four year degree in Food Science, Chemistry or a related field or the equivalent in experience.
  • 3 years of experience in sanitation or leadership role with working knowledge of food safety, preferably in the food processing industry.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Effective mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams and executing complex, operational programs such as master sanitation schedules.
  • Must be available to work a varied schedule.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of problems.
    • Certified Pest Control Operator
    • Food Safety Background
    • Supervisory Training Seminars preferred Other Qualifications
    • Chemical safety training
    • Confined space entry knowledge
    • AIB sanitation training
    • Allergen cleaning procedures
