Carrier Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Works closely with carriers providing transportation solutions to new and existing customers that exceed expectations while achieving internal financial objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Using phone and computer, handles all communication with and load tendering to carriers
  • Manages all posting boards, e.g.., DAT and Truckstop.com
  • Negotiates rates with carriers
  • Develops new carriers for the network
  • Ensures carriers are meeting on-time service requirements
  • Coordinate with account management team, as well as track and trace team
  • Works with carriers to facilitate communication and tracking through Macropoint Tracking Setup, pushed notifications, and email
  • Develops transactional and long-term strategies with carriers to identify their capacity needs on a regular basis and match those needs with consistent opportunities
  • Functions as part of a team of professional multi-modal transportation experts
  • Performs other duties as required 

Qualifications 

  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and driven to succeed
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel and Word
  • Available to work on call, after hours and weekend duty to be scheduled based on customer needs
  • High school diploma or equivalent
