Generalist Intern

The D. E. Shaw group is seeking motivated individuals with an impressive record of academic and/or professional achievement to join its internship program. Generalist interns will work in one of several departments in the firm, including product development, investor relations, corporate development, treasury, and risk. While we welcome applications from individuals with a background in mathematics, computer science, or economics, we are equally interested in speaking with accomplished and numerate liberal arts candidates, regardless of major. We are looking for students approaching their final year of full-time study, and neither require nor expect any previous financial experience. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and will excel at taking initiative, problem-solving, and managing multiple projects. We are seeking critical thinkers and effective communicators who are motivated by a desire to learn, achieve, and contribute.
