Quant Systems: Technologist - Intern

The D. E. Shaw group is seeking motivated individuals with an impressive record of academic and/or professional achievement to join its internship program. Our infrastructure specialists in Quant Systems work as part of a global team developing tools and software for efficient operation of a very large global technology infrastructure. We are looking for a systems programmer with particular interest in optimizing and automating large scale infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will be working toward a degree in computer science or a technical discipline, and will have a strong interest in understanding how technology works, with a focus on Linux systems internals, networking technologies, and high-performance computing technologies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Strong programming skills are required; exposure to Python is particularly beneficial.
