Mechanical Engineer

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop automated manufacturing methods

  • CAD design of test equipment, jigs, and fixtures

  • Assist with brushless DC motor design

  • Integration of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems

  • Thermal and mechanical modeling and testing of electric propulsion systems

  • Assist in UAV flight testing both locally and at remote sites (some travel required)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Keen eye for detail, experience with quality control and manufacturing processes

  • Proficient with solid-modeling CAD software (preferably CATIA) and 2D documentation

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience through student teams, co-op, and/or personal projects

  • Experience using rigorous scientific methods for testing and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechatronics-related experience with machine design, testing, and prototyping

  • Interest in RC planes, quadcopters, and/or kit plane construction

  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes: motor winding, CNC machining, carbon fiber composite layups
