Electrical Design Engineer

Role Responsibilities
- Develop hardware and firmware for projects related to power, propulsion, sensor and control systems for UAVs
- Test, characterize and iterate existing designs, and develop innovative solutions to new problems
- Evaluate new sensor technologies and assess for applicability to the project
- Assist in UAV flight testing both locally and at remote sites (some travel required)
- Analyze UAV electronics and components for operational failures
- Create production testing solutions for electronic assemblies
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design concepts
- Proficient at PCB layout, electronic assembly, and troubleshooting circuits with an oscilloscope
- Proficient at writing firmware (C/C++) for MCUs in embedded systems
- Experience with common communication protocols (SPI, UART, CAN)
- Hands-on experience through student teams, co-op, and/or personal projects
Optional Qualifications
- Practical understanding of switching power supply design and layout considerations
- Familiarity with brushless DC motor control, and lithium-based battery integration
- Familiarity GPS and UAV sensors
- Interest in RC planes, quadcopters, or aviation
