Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will help lead our team of scientists through an unprecedented technological adventure... You will pioneer the mechanical design, development, testing, and quality of our products, as well as lead initiatives through every step of the product development timeline from R&D to product launch. We are a fast-growing startup, and as such, we challenge all of our employees to develop their entrepreneurial skills and to challenge the status quo.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Innovate and develop new technologies, products, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies.
• Create and implement test systems to evaluate designs throughout the development process.
• Communicate with stakeholders and other team members about new designs through accurate, well-defined, and articulate verbal and written presentations.
• Partner with our team of product managers, engineers, and technicians to develop product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing.
• Join forces with internal teams in supply chain, user research, industrial design, operations, business development, and quality assurance to create excellent processes and effective working relationships.
• Provide cultural sensitivity in working with a globally diverse customer base and employee community.
• Serve as a member of the Uncharted Play ambassador for the company at various community and media events, as well as other activities.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in hardware prototyping and development.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead engineers and drive team productivity.
• Deep experience in development process (R&D through product launch).
• High performing in a startup environment.
• Enthusiastic, passionate, hands-on, self-aware, and proactive.
• Proven track record of innovation

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant work experience.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; MS degree is preferred.
• Expertise in broader manufacturing and deep knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) best practices.
• Relevant experience in testing and data-driven decision-making.
• Proven ability in designing parts and subassemblies through various manufacturing processes (CNC, sheet metal, injection molding, die casting, etc.).
• Proficiency with CAD software and other relevant software platforms.
• Ability to communicate ideas and concepts verbally and visually.
• Vendor management experience (both international and domestic).
• Additional expertise preferred in any of the following areas:
• Electromechanical Systems
• Design of Experiments (DoE - Testing)
• Contract Manufacturing Experience
• Mechanism (Power Transmission) Design
• Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Materials Selection and Development
• Python/Scripting Languages

MORE is Uncharted Play’s proprietary technology for micro-generator system design. MORE (Motion-based, Off-Grid, Renewable Energy) offers fully integrated, affordable, efficient, and easily customizable generator systems that can be integrated into any product.
