Pioneer Airport Intern

Full-time, Seasonal, Summer (Mid-May - August)


SUMMARY

The Pioneer Airport Intern will learn and support the Pioneer Airport seasonal operations.  This individual will work closely with the manager and volunteer leaders to promote, and manage, the day-to-day operations of a unique airport.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that all positions necessary to operate Pioneer Airport in a safe and effective way are properly staffed and trained in aircraft operations safety.

  2. Collaboratively work with interns and volunteers to support the purpose of the Pioneer Airport which is to bring to life the essence of a 1930’s grassroots airfield.

  3. Ensure a positive guest experience and provide tours and answer questions, as needed

  4. Ensures the daily reconciliation for sales has been completed and delivers paperwork to the appropriate departments.

  5. Ensures airport buildings have been secured properly at the beginning and end of the day.

  6. Provide light maintenance and inspection to equipment, facilities, planes, etc.

  7. Evaluate, monitor, and manage the airport operations and make recommendations for enhancements to meet goals and objectives

  8. Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment.

  9. All other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a degree in Aviation, Business, Hospitality or similar field

  • Knowledge of aircraft and aircraft operations. Working knowledge of inspection procedures, methods, equipment and accepted industry safety standards and programs

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs., standing or sitting for extended periods of time, bending, and working above ground or on irregular surfaces.
  • Some weekends will be required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A private pilot certificate

  • Previous supervisory experience and/or working with volunteers
