Engineering and Quality Interns

Job Description

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The Intern assists in improving the machining and assembly capabilities of Superior Fabrication Company LLS This position utilizes engineering skills and experience to carry out projects that improve manufacturing processes and/or equipment.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Regular Functions include:

  • Carries out projects to improve manufacturing processes

     

  • Recommends process changes or equipment that would benefit production

 

  • Utilizes basic hand measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and pin gages to aid in checking products

 

  • Works together with assembly department and machine shop to assure processes support effective manufacturing.

 

  • Interacts with vendors as needed to assure understanding of equipment.

 

  • Creates CAD drawings and supporting change order documents as needed

 

  • Prepares reports, memorandums and maintains related files

     

  • Builds and tests manufacturing tools and systems.

     

  • Creates and revises documentation for processes and projects.

 

  •      Must comply with all safety regulations

 

  • May create new and modified drawings in AutoCad and/or Solidworks.

 

  • May work in other departments as needed and complete other duties as required.

 

Periodic Project work may include:

  • Lean Machine Shop Operations

  • 5s Work Center Implementation

  • Capacity Studies (Machining and Assembly)

  • Production Cost Analysis

  • Assembly Automation Design and Build

  • Cellular Assembly Line Layouts

  • Production Test Stand Design and Build

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:    

This position does not manage or supervise other individuals.

Job Requirements

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

 

Education and/or Experience:

working towards obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Design, Mechanical or Quality Engineering

 

Required Behaviors and Competencies include:

 

Professional/Technical Training and Skills include:

  • Working ability with Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience using AutoCad and/or Solidworks

  • Blueprint reading

  • Effective at presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public

  • Skills in geometry and algebra

  • Experience using Labview and/or writing basic code an asset
