POSITION:                    Paraprofessional - Spec. Ed. E.I. Classroom
                                        Northeast Middle School
                                        35 Hours per week
 
SALARY:                         Per Paraprofessional Agreement
 
AVAILABLE:                   Immediately
 
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:           High School Diploma and one of the following:
                                          1) Associate’s degree,
                                          2) 2 years of study at an institution of higher education,
                                          or 3) Passed the ACT Work Keys exam
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to assist classroom teacher in classroom management and daily one-on-one student plans
• Ability to work with middle school age students in special & general education settings
• Demonstrates understanding of students’ needs who display emotional and socially maladaptive behaviors
• Knowledge of non-crisis intervention and/or ability to be trained in non-crisis intervention (CPI)
• Ability to follow through with prescribed behavioral management programs
• Ability to work as part of a classroom team

 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Tutor and/or supervise individuals and groups
• Follow teacher’s directives
• Assist children with educational, physical and emotional needs
• Work cooperatively with general education and other special education staff to provide successful programming to meet individual needs
• Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher, building administrator, Supervisor of Special Education or other administrators
• Perform essential job functions as specified for this position
