DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW

The Securities Division facilitates client transactions with a diverse group of corporations, financial institutions, investment funds, governments and individuals through market making in, trading of and investing in fixed income and equity products, currencies, commodities and derivatives on these products. In addition, we engage in market-making activities on equities and options exchanges, and we clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide.

PRINCIPAL FUNDING AND INVESTMENTS GROUP DESCRIPTION

The Principal Funding & Investment (PFI) group was established in 2001 as a global investing and trading business. The business focuses on credit investing, credit underwriting, and opportunistic deployment of funding. PFI manages a wide range of macro risk as well as credit risks of a structured and illiquid nature. Local teams in New York, London, and Hong Kong interact closely with Sales, Banking, and clients in order to globally identify opportunities to principal and distribute risk as well as source and deploy liquidity. PFI leverages the knowledge of its investing team to conduct fundamental analysis and lend across a broad spectrum of credits including structured, corporate, single asset, senior secured, distressed, and emerging markets.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·         Expected to become a key contributor on deal teams shortly after starting

·         Absorb the team’s fundamental, value credit investing mindset

·         Coordinate closely with salespeople, investment banking, and other groups

 

Desired Candidate Profile:

·         An interest in credit valuation and lending, as well as macroeconomics and trading

·         Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem solving skills

·         Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal/communication skills

·         Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts

·         While we expect candidates to have an interest in risk taking and finance, we are most interested in those who will thrive in an open-minded, inclusive and intellectually honest environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Strong quantitative, reasoning and analytical skills.

·         Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

·         Experience with financial modeling tools, credit investing, and strong intellectual curiosity.

·         Excellent verbal communication skills.

·         Self-awareness and willingness to learn from mistakes.

·         Ability to work well with others in small team setting.
