.5 FTE Reading Recovery Teacher

LOCATION:  Conant Elementary School


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Michigan elementary teacher certificate with an endorsement in elementary education (ZG)

  • Must meet the NCLB HQ requirements in elementary education

Teacher must agree to the following:

  • RRT trainee will successfully complete the RDG 539 graduate level (10 credits) training class. The RDG 539 class begins with one week of Assessment Training and thereafter meets one night per week as scheduled during the school year at the Reading Recovery Training Site. The total number of contact hours for initial training is 120 hours.

  • RRT trainee will attend the Reading Recovery Council of Michigan Annual Institute. Registration for the institute is provided as part of the professional development resources for the initial year of training.

  • Commit to the Reading Recovery role for a minimum of three years. A Reading Recovery role consists of the teacher providing 4 individual 30-minute lessons each day to serve a minimum of 8-10 Reading Recovery children each school year.

  • Adhere to the Standards and Guidelines for Reading Recovery in the United States. These standards are found at the website: http://www.readingrecovery.org/implmenetation/standards/index.asp         

  • Participate in federally required research. Data collection will be minimally intrusive. For example, some teachers may be asked to keep daily logs of teaching, participate in a survey and agree to be interviewed.
