Biological Science Technician (Plants)

As a Biological Science Technician for upland (vegetation and soils), riparian (vegetation and geomorphology), and stream monitoring you will perform the major duties to include collecting plant, soil, and geomorphology data using established network monitoring protocols; accurately identifying vegetation to the species level in the field or in the office using standard floras; conducting fieldwork in remote back country settings and under difficult conditions in a safe and efficient manner; using 4WD and off-trail hiking to access monitoring sites; using topographic maps, compasses, aerial photographs and GPS units to locate and relocate monitoring sites; reviewing datasheets to ensure the quality of data collection; entering data and following quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate data transcription into established databases; and maintaining field and camping equipment.
