Job Summary

The Hexagon Integrated Solutions team is responsible for integrating Hexagon Metrology core products with external devices and/or products to create new solutions for specific market segments. The team is responsible for the development, testing, sales, and management of both custom solutions and standard products.

As the Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the development, integration and testing of the completed metrology solution as well as smaller development projects to build re-usable base components and software to be used within these systems. You will ensure that system integrity and overall metrology performance is maintained when all systems are combined. And you will develop and execute test plans and analyze the obtained data.

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Integration of Robotics Systems and their controller software with CMM’s and other Measuring Equipment, i.e. Trackers, White Light Sensors

·       Programing of PLC’s for use in automation cells with CMM’s, Robots, Pallet Changers, etc.

·       Development of various system parameters, compensations, methods, applications, computer programs and other means to improve reliability and metrology performance

·       Creation of manuals and other required documentation of custom metrology systems and components

·       Assist Custom Solutions Project Managers with quotation generation, by providing input on component selection and project scope for systems.

·       Travel to customer facilities and/or Hexagon sister plants for system installation and runoff. The System Engineer is the onsite technical project manager that ensures the system meets all the required specifications of the project

·       Works closely with Solutions Engineers in customer program development and implementation

·       Assist in the integration of Custom CMM sub-systems, such as probes, controls, special custom fixturing etc.

·       Involved in research and development of new and emerging technology

·       Maintain currency with respect to technical skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, independent research, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed

·       Responsible for leading and participating in continuous improvement projects that positively affect safety, quality, and/or productivity, or other process improvements as identified by management

·       Required to manage and maintain applicable areas of Hexagon Enterprise Resource Planning systems and databases

·       Travel to vendors, shows or other Hexagon BU’s is required

·       Travel up to 50%, primarily domestic


Qualifications

·       B.S. in Engineering or business related Technical Discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

·       5+ years of experience in metrology, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering or similar environment

·       2+ years of experience in industrial integration

·       Proficiency in Robotics and their programming

·       Proficiency in PLC Programming

·       Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and adherence to mechanical and electrical safety standards of the manufacturing industry

·       Proficiency with MS office programs and Microsoft Visual Studio

·       Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and adherence to mechanical and electrical safety standards of the manufacturing industry

·       Strong organizational skills

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills

·       Comfortable with hands-on work in laboratory environment

·       Emphasis on experience with Hexagon CMM systems, both portable and stationary

·       Understanding of field bus technology, a plus

·       Understanding of industrial vision technology, a plus
