Program Manager
Description:
Embark is looking for a passionate & creative recent graduate, excited about international collaboration and education. The Program Manager will be eager to forge international partnerships in pursuit of cultural & intellectual exchange, to best benefit both deserving Chinese high school students and U.S. organizations, universities, and researchers. Able to draw on a variety of interests and passions, they will be granted freedom, encouragement, and company support to pursue creative (strange, even) ideas for partnerships in these areas. Previous & current programs have included student assistance on university economic research, collaboration on website development for U.S. student organizations, and high school article contributions to U.S. student publications. The Program Manager will work with diverse & open-minded co-workers, impressive U.S. partners, and dedicated Chinese high school students, to create brand-new collaborations. Inventive, interdisciplinary & cross-cultural thinking is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, design, and refine unique
programs for Chinese high school students
- Work with partners in the US (e.g. universities,
non-profits) to forge collaborations for these programs
- Design & implement curricula to teach high
school students the relevant skills for each initiative, and oversee capstone
projects with the international partner
- Contribute to company leadership discussions
about Emark’s larger strategy & growth
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a top U.S. university
- Ability to make creative connections between a
variety of disciplines & cultures
- Excited about weird, new education ideas
- Excellent communication skills
- Fantastic at synthesizing complicated proposals
into understandable goals/actions
- Willing to relocate to Shanghai
- Fluent English
- Thrive in a startup culture, emphasizing
flexibility, passion for Embark’s mission, and cooperation
- Strong abilities with basic office software
(esp. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and quick learner with project management &
communication tools
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a top U.S. university
- 1+ years of research experience (full- or
part-time)
- 1+ years of work experience with non-profits or
NGOs (full- or part-time)
- Expertise in any of the following fields: Life
Sciences, Physical Sciences, Education, China
- Business proficient Chinese
- Demonstrated interest in Chinese education &
Chinese culture
