Program Director

Net Impact’s Program Director is a newly designed role that provides an outstanding leadership opportunity for leading Net Impact’s core programmatic areas. These core programmatic areas include our flagship annual conference, our new local event series (NILocal), our issue-based Fellowships, business plan competitions, university-focused race equity curriculum, and more. The position oversees four direct and indirect reports, as well as seasonal contractors and interns.

This exciting opportunity is a fantastic position for a mission-driven, passionate leader who enjoys both high-level strategy and detailed execution. The ideal candidate is comfortable overseeing programmatic areas covering a wide range of social and environmental issues, as well as various engagement models (events, fellowships, curriculum, competitions). While we have been running our Conference for almost 25 years, and it is widely regarded as a top conference in the sustainability / social impact space, this role also calls for an innovator and strategist who can help us bring both the conference and our newer programmatic areas to reach their growth and potential.

Job Requirements:

·         Oversee portfolio of core programs that provide our community with opportunities to use their skills and careers to drive positive change. Program areas ebb and flow throughout the year and include:

o   Flagship Net Impact Conference, which engages 2,500 attendees annually. This includes oversight of all aspects of the Conference: strategy and design, curriculum, speakers, theme, budgeting and forecasting, logistics, as well as liaising with marketing and sponsorship teams

o   New NILocal series, which supports Net Impact chapters to design and execute bigger and better events under a consistent Net Impact brand

o   Fellowships that will engage close to 100 young people this year around racial equity, food and nutrition, and criminal justice

o   Competitions that invite our community to submit their social enterprise business plans and intrapreneurship projects

o   Curriculum and skills programs that coach and support our community to learn and deploy new skills to drive positive change

·         Manage a high performing team of FTEs and seasonal contractors, as well as outside consultants and vendors as appropriate

Key Competencies:

·         High standards and drive for excellence: the right individual has a relentless drive to exceed goals and continually push to develop excellent, scalable, sustainable programming for our community

·         Program strategy, innovation, and design: this person will reinvent existing programs, improve fledgling programs, and design new programs, and thus should have the interest and ability in thinking big picture and creatively about how to best engage our audience of 18-35-year-olds in world-changing programming

·         Program execution, project management, attention to detail: the Director will need to dive into a variety of projects to support their team, and should enjoy chipping in as a team member and executing on all levels of projects

·         Resourceful: as a nonprofit, we are all required to “do more with less” and stretch our capacity for driving big social change on relatively small budgets

·         Adaptive and embracing of change: we are a fast-moving, nimble organization that is not averse to changes in org structure or job requirements in order to best meet our ambitious goals

·         Supportive and engaged manager: the Director will come into a talented team that is eager for continued professional development and learning opportunities

Other Qualifications:

·         Passion for Net Impact’s mission

·         Graduate degree preferred

·         Event management experience preferred

·         Experience working with young adults (college, graduate students, young professionals) a plus

·         Education / curriculum development a plus
