Position Title: Human Resources Intern
Department: Administration
Reports To: Director of Administrative Services
Salary Range: None Paid Internship – Quarterly gas stipend provided
General: The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Team with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, and a variety of administrative tasks. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills acquired in school and apply them in a professional setting. The intern will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in a non-profit setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources and the nonprofit sector.
Specific:
Performing reference and background checks
Prepare materials for orientation
Prepare all new hire paperwork
Participate in interviews
Create new personnel files
Perform a variety of general administrative tasks
Manage job postings via online or internal job boards
Assist with Schedule interviews and follow-up with candidates
Enter information into Kronos
Prepare correspondence letters
Assist with DC Council
Perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at a College or University with a major in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality.
Excellent multi-tasking, time management, customer service and business writing skills a must.
Social media management preferred.
Ability to work independently and be detail oriented.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Agency Requirements:
Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, a good driving record, and valid insurance of personal vehicle, if used, which is acceptable to Development Centers insurance carrier
Acceptable results from criminal background and sex offender registry checks
Acceptable Central Registry Clearance for Abuse/Neglect from DHS
Must attend required trainings
Must practice/model Universal Precautions
