Japanese Equity Research Associate

The Research Associate will work with and report to a senior analyst in an industry-focused team responsible for evaluating investments in companies globally, with a focus on investments in Japan.   

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Researching, analyzing, and performing due diligence on potential investments
  • Monitoring portfolio investments, competitors, and industry developments
  • Building and maintaining financial and valuation models
  • Engaging with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts as requested
  • Creating investment-related presentation materials

 This is a two to four year position, after which most individuals enroll in business school.  Research Associates have gone on to attend business schools including Stanford, Harvard, and Wharton. 



  • Fluency in Japanese
  • 1-2 years of experience at an investment bank or management consulting firm, or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential
  • An excellent academic record from a top university
  • Basic accounting knowledge; coursework in economics and statistics is a plus
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and value investing
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling
  • Initiative and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
