Japanese Equity Research Associate
The Research Associate will work with and report to a senior analyst in an industry-focused team responsible for evaluating investments in companies globally, with a focus on investments in Japan.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Researching, analyzing, and performing due diligence on potential investments
- Monitoring portfolio investments, competitors, and industry developments
- Building and maintaining financial and valuation models
- Engaging with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts as requested
- Creating investment-related presentation materials

This is a two to four year position, after which most individuals enroll in business school. Research Associates have gone on to attend business schools including Stanford, Harvard, and Wharton.
- Fluency in Japanese
- 1-2 years of experience at an investment bank or management consulting firm, or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential
- An excellent academic record from a top university
- Basic accounting knowledge; coursework in economics and statistics is a plus
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets and value investing
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling
- Initiative and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
