Co-Op Engineer

Continuous Improvement Co-op (August 2017-December 2017)

This assignment will support several business needs; including: 

  • Calculate and report key quality metrics (daily/weekly/monthly)

  • Continuous improvement in manufacturing operations including safety, cost, quality, and delivery

  • Coordinate internal resources and external contractors to complete project work

  • Research and order materials to support lean initiatives

  • Implement visual management on the shop floor

  • Support the development of standardized work instructions for operations

  • Daily interaction with hourly employees to support advancement of lean manufacturing

  • Other duties as assigned

The core work hours are Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Flexibility will be important to assist with events and project work.  Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Engineering Co-op – Windshield/Assembly (August 2017-December 2017)

This assignment will support several business needs; including:

  • Calculate and report key quality metrics (daily/weekly/monthly)

  • Continuous improvement in manufacturing operations including safety, cost, quality, and delivery

  • Coordinate internal resources and external contractors to complete project work

  • Research and order materials to support lean initiatives

  • Implement visual management on the shop floor

  • Support the development of standardized work instructions for operations

  • Daily interaction with hourly employees to support advancement of lean manufacturing

  • Other duties as assigned

The core hours are Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Flexibility will be important to assist with events and project work.

New Products Co-op (August 2017-December 2017)

This assignment will support several business needs; including: 

  • Work on new paint color introductions and products

  • Track project tasks to completion

  • Create visual aids and detailed data tracking documents

  • Coordinate internal resources and external contractors to complete project work

  • Support the development of standard work instructions for operations

  • Other duties as assigned

The core hours are Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Flexibility will be important to assist with events and project work. 

Qualifications Required for All Positions:

  • Strong desire to learn

  • Reliable transportation to travel between the Somo and Kaphaem plants

  • Actively enrolled in school during co-op and able to supply supporting documentation of school status

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Sophomore status with a 2.8 GPA or higher is preferred

  • Pursing a degree in Industrial Technology Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing related degree
