Food Scientist

Close collaboration with Marketing to develop new product concepts based on consumer insights. Explore and build external and internal relationships with vendors and colleagues to leverage technology to develop products that exceed consumer needs and provide significant competitive advantage.

 

Apply individual creativity and technical insights to also propose new product concepts, and take first steps to assess technical feasibility and secure intellectual property. Build cross-functional support when appropriate and develop project plans to drive development and industrialization.

 

Enhance existing products in support of business objectives and consumer needs. Ability to apply relevant scientific knowledge to products/process to reach optimization.

 

Lead both fundamental research projects and product development projects. Form collaborative research programs with suppliers, advanced materials companies and universities. Lead product development projects from concept to industrialization, including development of overall technical project plan, and meeting milestones and launch deadlines.

 

Effectively communicate results with project team members and leadership during stage gate reviews and other cross-functional forums. Document research is well-developed research reports.

 

Continuously search for and vet advanced technologies, especially in areas of key focus (texture, taste, aroma)

 

Prepare and evaluate new concept product samples. Help procure source of suitable ingredients; base on quality and food safety.

 

Conduct sensory and mircrobiological shelf life studies of existing and new value added products or concepts and conduct process improvement activities including experimental design, plant sampling, documenting plant process parameters, collecting data, analyzing the data and providing technical reports on the results. Develop and utilize a collaborative relationship with Process Engineering to manage scale up processes.

 

Co-lead process and packaging development studies leading to commercialization. Identify alternative methods of manufacturing.
