Software Engineering Intern

Hyannis Port Research (“HPR”) is seeking engineering students to join our rapidly growing financial technology company in Needham, MA. HPR provides cutting edge electronic trading platforms to some of the largest financial institutions in the world. As an Intern at HPR, you will gain experience being immersed in a high performing team of software and hardware engineers with a great startup culture.

Main Duties

As a Software Engineer Intern at HPR you will build upon your strong academic background as you help us advance the state of the art in high performance computing and electronic trading. You will design, develop, and debug C applications that run on multi-core Linux systems to process large amounts of high-throughput low-latency network data. As a member of a small team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with customers that are using the products that you help to develop.

Required Skills

  • Pursuing a MS/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Relevant work experience or significant academic project/intern experience with strong computer science skills
  • Programming experience in C and Linux application development skills
  • Solid Linux command line proficiency.
  • Familiarity with C++, Java, Python and Shell scripting
  • Great interpersonal skills verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
