Patent Agent - Electrical Engineering

Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd. seeks Ph.D. candidates nearing the completion of their studies and thesis defense, or recent Ph.D. graduates working in academia or industry, to join the law firm as a patent agent in its Chicago, DC or Bay Area offices.  Patent agents are licensed by the US Patent and Trademark Office to represent applicants’ for patents. The candidate’s Ph.D. should be in the area of electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, computer science, or a related area. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This position is full time. 

We will train the candidate to become a licensed patent agent.  Responsibilities will include preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications, supporting patent litigation and participating in post-grant validity proceedings in the US Patent Office.
