Senior Health Researcher

The Episcopal Health Foundation seeks a seasoned strategic professional with extensive experience in community-based health research, health policy, and health service delivery system research. The Senior Health Researcher will provide leadership, project management and oversight of research in support of the Research Division’s goal of providing timely and relevant data and research to inform EHF’s work. The Senior Health Researcher is expected to contribute to a multitude of health data analyses and research projects using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, including working with external research partners. This position will be responsible for regular and confidential communication with the Vice President for Applied Research, EHF colleagues, and external academic and community partners.

 Scope of Work:

·         Work as a part of the research team to develop the Foundation’s overall strategy for delivering on the vision, consistent with the direction set by the Foundation’s board

·         Serve as a strategic partner with the Vice President for Applied Research in shaping and delivering on the agenda and priorities of the research team

·         Assist the Vice President for Applied Research to provide senior leadership, planning and management of various internal and external research, planning, community engagement, mapping and data analysis projects

·         Supervise and mentor junior members of the Foundation’s research team

·         Oversee the design, planning and oversight of community engagement and community-based research projects

·         Lead effort in positioning EHF as a philanthropic leader in promoting community engagement and community-based research nationally

·         Co-lead efforts to provide education and training to community organizations, grantees, and congregations on using data and research findings to inform local program design and service delivery

·         Provide project leadership support on various internal and external research efforts to better understand health policy and health care delivery systems in Texas and the EDOT counties

·         Prioritize both daily and ongoing tasks to meet deadlines

·         Contribute to the team environment and maintain a sense of humor


 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate degree (preferably doctorate, or master’s degree with significant experience) in public health, public policy or a related field
  • A minimum of 6-10 years of professional work experience in public health, public policy, or a related field for master degree applicants. Education can be substituted for experience for doctoral applicants.
  • Demonstrated research leadership and project management experience, including research conceptualization, study design, data collection, data analysis and report communications.
  • Experience in leading community engagement efforts and community-based research studies
  • Understanding of federal and state health policy and health care delivery system issues
  • Comfortable to operate in both quantitative and qualitative research environments
  • Experience in supervising and motivating staff
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working in an environment of change
  • Creativity, problem-solving skills, initiative, and a can-do attitude

·         Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills

·         Ability to prioritize projects, multi-task, and meet deadlines and support others in doing the same

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Extremely detailed-oriented and organized

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
