The U.S. Army Research Laboratory Computational and Information Sciences Directorate (CISD), Computational Sciences Division conducts research in a variety of disciplines relevant to achieving and implementing future generation digital battlefield. To support our research, our facilities include the 19th fastest computer in the world, more than a dozen high performance computers and access to several emerging computer technologies in the industry.

 

Parsons employees collaborate with the Army Research Laboratory and their academic and industry partners to create the next generation computational innovations. We are seeking highly motivated, self-starting individuals interested in leading edge research in

 

Emerging and unconventional computing architectures

The qualified candidate will develop software for emerging many-core and neuromorphic architectures. Duties may include working on the TrueNorth neuromorphic processor to update and improve existing deep neural networks for image recognition or conducting computational research to demonstrate and evaluate the potential of emerging architectures for low powered high performance computing applications.

 

Innovative 3D immersive visualization

The qualified candidate will explore the viability of using augmented reality for data visualization using Unity for deployment on iPad, Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Microsoft HoloLens. The objective is to provide a data visualization tool for the scientists to manipulate their data in 3D space using virtual reality and augmented reality technologies.

 

Real-time very large scale data analytics

The qualified candidate will work with large datasets that may be comprised of structured data and unstructured data contained in SQL and no-SQL databases. The data may arise from large scale tests of Army systems, from high fidelity computational models of physical phenomena, from network traffic analysis, and other sources. Of pressing need is to develop methods for analyzing streaming data from sensors and video sources, integrate with other data, and visualize the results. Knowledge of and experience with the Hadoop software stack is especially desirable for this topic.

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Investigate new technologies and novel approaches to meet evolving research objectives.
  • Work with research teams to customize software solutions to meet research and analysis objective.
  • Develop software algorithms for emerging computing technologies
  • Prepare and present research findings at academic seminars, conferences and workshops
  • Publish technical reports, conference papers and refereed journal articles

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhDs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or Math.
  • Postdoc positions are also available
  • Strong programming skills in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Java, CUDA, OpenCL, assembly
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Strong math skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC) government clearance.
