Communications Spring 2017 Intern

The Center’s Communications Department is looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful, and highly organized spring intern with a commitment to reproductive rights issues to engage in a variety of projects related to media relations and online community engagement.  This position will provide the successful candidate with experience in the day-to-day operations of a dynamic in-house media relations team, including tracking media coverage and maintaining lists of media contacts, as well as learning about online engagement strategies through social media, email, and web. The position will also be responsible for performing administrative tasks, as needed.

 

The internship is 10-16 hours a week during the spring semester. The position will be paid on an hourly basis.

 

Responsibilities:

The scope of this role will cover, but is not limited to:

 

  • Assisting with monitoring and documenting of media coverage of the Center and updating media placements archives;
  • Creating and updating press lists;
  • Producing creative content for social media;
  • Formatting email blasts using HTML;
  • Posting web content; and
  • Conducting research, as needed.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated administrative skills;
  • Skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel;
  • Experience with social media;
  • Exceptional online research skills; and
  • Experience working with HTML, CRM systems, photography, and/or graphic design software a plus.
