Under general direction design, installs, configure, support, maintain, and evaluate computer networking, videoconference and telecommunication systems; both physical and virtual computer servers; and network hardware and software. Ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability as well as plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects for success of the organization
- Plan, design and implement data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems
- Assist in coordinating special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving
- Assist in providing network and remote connectivity hardware/software support
- Maintain LAN user documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information
- Install, design, configure, and maintain system hardware and software
- Research and recommend network and server hardware and software
- Analyze and troubleshoot the network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems
- Establish and maintain file sharing, access privileges, and monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges
- Install, support and maintain both physical and virtual network servers and appliances
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot the Storage Area Network (SAN)
- Perform daily server backups
- Research, analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve server or data network problems
- Develop, maintain and implement network support, and archiving procedures
- Research and evaluate new technologies related to computer networking
- Recommend and specify the purchase of related products and services
- Assist in planning, coordinating and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support
- Keep current regarding new hardware/software products for system enhancements
- Assist and provide support to the other information technology staff as requested including performing scheduled network tasks, updating anti-virus definition files, monitoring network servers, and providing internet and intranet user support, and specialized training
- Plan, recommend and assist in the design of telecommunications systems; research and recommend telecommunications equipment
- Coordinate the ordering and installation of telecommunications and data systems equipment and cabling
- Research, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve telecommunications related problems
- Develop and implement telecommunications operational procedures
- Create and/or modify voicemail and call features
- Install telecommunications equipment and provides support for handsets, voicemail and new/emerging telecommunications-related technology
- Inventory telecommunications equipment
- Plan, recommend, and assist in the design and installation of videoconferencing systems
- Research, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve videoconference related problems
- Establish and maintain effective professional business relationships with all levels of management and customers while successfully managing multiple, concurrent projects
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience
- Five (5) or more years of information technology experience
- Experience in all areas of local and wide area networks management and administration including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support
- Experience installing and supporting Microsoft server technologies, client VPN, and remote user support software
- Experience supporting telecommunications equipment. Working knowledge of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), Internet, e-mail systems, videoconferencing systems, telecommunications and data communications
- Experience with standard operating systems, software packages, and software utilities
- Working knowledge of proper records maintenance and storage for local and distributed environments
- In depth understanding of computer operating systems, applications and data flow dependencies between applications
- Must be able to establish effective professional business relationships with all levels of management
