Analyst - Data Analyst

Organization Overview 

The US Health Division has helped shape healthcare policies that have benefited millions of Americans, while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of many government programs. Federal government agencies, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and National Institutes of Health call on us to help launch and evaluate their key programs. We also help change behaviors affecting health by directing communication programs that address substance abuse and mental health services. 

Opportunity

 

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Analyst to support the US Health Division. The ideal candidate will have experience managing data using REDCap.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide data management, reporting and analysis support to study investigators using R, SAS, and other statistical packages.
  • Manage/merge data from multiple sources and generate reports in various formats.
  • Provide programming support in the development and maintenance of active REDCap projects.
  • Support efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained in a consistent way across multiple study sites.
  • Serve as an organizational subject matter expert on data/REDCap related issues to assist users in meeting their needs.
  • Review project reports and findings. Review applications, data sets and models for anomalies to ensure accuracy.
  • Using independent judgement and discretion, apply standard and non-standard quantitative and/or qualitative methods and techniques.
  • Draft and manage the implementation of procedures for data collection, manipulation and analysis during all project phases. May participate in the establishment of new or revised systems, policies or methods.
  • Exercise initiative to resolve complex non-routine matters. Implement and manage project schedules, plans, goals and budgets under the indirect supervision of more senior staff. Independently analyze issues to reconcile and resolve problems. Apply knowledge and experience of general operations, systems, and project procedures.
  • May assume a role in proposal efforts by preparing drafts of sections. 

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites  

  • Experience developing and maintaining projects in REDCap.
  • Experience with data analysis software (e.g. SAS and R). Experience working on and managing research studies, international is a plus.
  • Technical expertise and supervisory/staff development skills strongly preferred.
  • MPH in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and International Health, Public Health Informatics or Similar public health degree preferred.
  • Fluency in second language preferred.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • BA/BS (3 - 5) OR MA/MBA (Entry Level) years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
