Marine Engine Development Engineer

Marine Engine Development Engineer

Ilmor designs and manufactures marine engines for recreational, high performance, and racing applications. We are seeking a team-oriented candidate with engine knowledge and powertrain experience who possesses drive and passion with a “make it happen” attitude.

Job Description

  • Support various engine development activities. Examples include:

    • Boat instrumentation, operation and data acquisition.

    • Bench test setup and execution.

    • Dyno preparation and test setup and support.

    • Support in-field service issues with technical expertise. This will occasionally require on-site resolution with the customer.

  • Assist in resolving critical issues that arise with existing product currently manufactured at our Mooresville, NC or Plymouth, MI facility. Examples include:

    • Test and data support as noted above and below.

    • Root cause analysis participation.

    • On-site liaison for customer, dealer or OEM as-needed.

  • General group support. Examples include:

    • Data processing to report in standard format and facilitate data analyses.

    • Fabrication, primarily for prototype parts and test fixtures.

    • Boat maintenance and repair. Assist with development and testing of next generation powertrain programs.

  • Based out of Plymouth, Michigan with expected travel to be roughly 30%.

  • Reporting to the Lead Development Engineer.

Required Skill Set

  • Engineering degree from accredited 4 year program.

  • Verifiable knowledge of marine applications and strong industry interest.

  • Strong computer skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Customer focused and strong work ethic.

  • Excellent communication skills with a team player mentality and passion to succeed.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a related field, such as marine, automotive, recreational, etc.

  • Powertrain experience or verifiable working knowledge of engines is required.

  • DFMEA/PFMEA/DVP&R experience preferred.

  • Dyno and/or vehicle testing experience preferred.

Quality systems experience, such as ISO 9001, preferred
