Mechanical Project Engineer

Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial heating and air conditioning systems, has an opening for a Mechanical Project Engineer at our corporate office in Bryan, OH.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Mechanical Project Engineer organizes, supervises and coordinates all Engineering activities to supply high quality, cost competitive, marketable product designs to meet the marketing and sales objectives of the company.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Designs and develops new air conditioning and heat pump products. Selects and supervises the selection of components to meet the design objectives of a product and to maximize component standardization.
  • Actively participates in the new product development process.
  • Respond in accordance to customer complaints, Preventative Action Requests, and Product Improvement Projects in correcting or improving the finished products, addressing the issues raised.
  • Reviews the overall progress of each project and provides the department head with a detailed monthly progress report. Ensures on-time project completion.
  • Aggressively identifies and implements cost reduction ideas and programs to meet the cost reduction goals of the department.
  • Drafts & supervises the drafting of detailed Bills of Materials on new products.
  • Works with manufacturing to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Prepares and makes submittals to agencies for UL Safety Listings (UL/ETL) and Capacity and Efficiency Ratings (AHRI).
  • Draft new product specifications and installation instructions.
  • Redesigns existing products to keep the product in-line current with changing Federal, State, and Regional requirements.
  • Supplies technical support to the Technical Service Department as needed.
  • Develops process specifications in correlation with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Insure proper product labeling for safety warnings in compliance with ANSI standards.
  • Reviews all test data for compliance and accuracy, insuring good statistical calculations in accordance with AHRI/DOE requirements.
  • Aid manufacturing with process improvements and recommendations to insure continued quality improvements and manufacturing ease.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in project management.
  • Ability to organize work to meet the departmental goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning and heat pump fundamentals.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be familiar with AHRI and UL Standards.
