Scout Bags: Sales Manager

About the Company

SCOUT is a vibrant brand of totes, accessories, coolers and home goods. The company began in 2004 with four tote bag styles in four patterns. Today, the business has thriving retail and wholesale components and the line has grown to over four hundred items. The SCOUT aesthetic is about bright colors, original prints, and fun and functional design. Our headquarters are located off of M Street in Georgetown, DC and many of our full-time employees are recent college graduates living in the DC area.

About the Position

SCOUT is a regional brand that is quickly expanding to a national platform. The Regional Sales Manager is tasked with managing and growing the Midwest and Northeast regions through the independent specialty stores carrying SCOUT. Reporting to the National Wholesale Sales Manager, and contributing to the largest segment of the SCOUT business, the Regional Sales Manager will directly manage a sales rep organization representing multiple brands. The Regional Sales Manager will partner with sales reps, as well as directly with retailers, to achieve sales growth and expand the SCOUT brand in the region.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Regional Sales Management:

·   Directly manage the relationship of a sales rep group consisting of 2 sales rep managers and 13 sales reps

·   Manage and grow the Midwest and Northeast regions of approximately 600 retail accounts contributing $2MM in sales in 2016

·  Directly communicate and manage of 100 high value accounts within the regions, who contribute approximately 30% of sales for the regions.

·  Creatively engage retailers to ensure that the SCOUT brand is well-represented in independent specialty stores on a merchandising and display level

·  Develop, forecast, manage and implement sales plans and business objectives for the regions on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

·  Attend biannual trade shows, working out of SCOUT’s national showroom

·  Directly manage the sales rep partnership to include:

·         Individual rep sales forecasts

·         Seasonal training for sales reps and retailers

·         Regional trips to work with reps on the ground

·         Conduct annual sales meeting with the rep groups

What We’d Like to See in You

·  2+ years of experience in sales management preferred; at least 2 years of sales and/or customer service experience required

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must

·  A proactive self-starter with problem-solving skills and a creative approach to meeting sales goals

·  Experience in creating and managing budgets and forecasts

·  Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Quickbooks, and CRM systems preferred

·  Ability and willingness to work both independently and as a team

·  Strong organizational abilities, including time and content management

·  Sales experience with consumer products and/or familiarity with the SCOUT brand is a plus

·   A Bachelor’s degree is required
