Hear from our past interns

"The HMP is not an internship—it is a job. Each project I was tasked with truly contributed to the overall well-being of the organization. I had the opportunity to explore multiple career paths that have historically interested me. Each day of my internship was different. One day, I met with clinicians to discuss inefficiencies in their triage process, then the next day sat down with our Deputy Executive Director to analyze and consider the financial impact of losing physicians to outside institutions. I hope to one day teach aspiring health administrators in the same way I have been taught here and will be forever grateful for this experience."

"Working at Northwell Health Foundation, I can confidently say I am privileged and lucky to have had such an incredible HMP opportunity. I particularly enjoyed was working with the Special Events team. Their job isn't just about event planning; but it's also about raising money for a great cause. For my summer project I develop a health care philanthropy orientation to explain to a new hire, what health care philanthropy is, why it’s important and how it functions to help sustain an organization. Working as a HMP Intern has combined my passion for managing, planning, and organizing with my desire to promote positive change in society."

“The Healthcare Management Program has solidified my interest in the healthcare industry.  Working on a wide variety of projects ranging from financial analyses, to strategizing the most efficient way to label Operating Room scrubs, I was exposed to many aspects of hospital administration. The program surrounds you with some of the brightest and most innovative minds in the industry, constantly giving you opportunities to network and ask questions on upcoming trends and industry challenges. I had independence on many projects, allowing me to take the lead, while always having mentors and resources available for guidance. I felt as though I was not an intern, but an entry level associate, as I was given the same levels of responsibility, and treated with the same levels of respect by all executives and employees. “
