Youth Advocate II (Full Time)

The Youth Advocate II (YA-II) supports CCAP’s program treatment and intervention philosophy by assuring its implementation and practice, and promotes, enacts, and role-models the proper implementation of therapeutic and intervention strategies in working with assigned children/youth placed in the program. The YA-II effectively helps residential units create and sustain a “culture” that recognizes and values progress toward therapeutic goals and fosters an environment where a careful balance between appropriate supervision and allowing a child/youngster develop age-typical skills such as going on outings, making choices about leisure time, purchases, etc. is able to occur.

The YA-II is the direct care staff assigned to children at St. Vincent Catholic Charities Children’s Home Comprehensive Clinical Assessment Program (CCAP) on a 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 ratio. The YA-II primary task is to function as a nurturing, structured, supportive care taker responsible for generating – in coordination with the multidisciplinary treatment team- the child’s Behavioral Treatment Plan (BTP). The BTP consists of therapeutic, strength-based, solution-oriented behavior interventions, based on comprehensive targeted behavioral assessments and evaluations of the children assigned. The YA-II consistently monitors and evaluates BTP’s overall efficacy and tailors the plan to maximize impact throughout the thirty days the child is participating in services. In addition, the YA-II participates in planning and implementing therapeutic activities of the residential unit.

The YA-II is expected to complete all required paperwork with clarity, in a timely manner and in line with program policies and procedures including resident logs and incident reports. The YA-II may also be responsible for dispensing/administering medications as prescribed by consulting psychiatrist, and will regularly transport assigned child/children to medical appointments, recreational outings and other appointments or activities as scheduled.
