Foster Care Supervisor

Position consists of full-time supervision of case managers. Provides leadership and direction for the Foster Care Program. Directly supervises the daily tasks of the Child Welfare Case Managers. Provides a consultative and supportive role for foster care families in meeting the needs of children in the program. Promotes and participates in cooperative efforts with other area child placing agencies. Maintains a positive attitude about foster care the benefits it provides for children. Reports to the Child Welfare Assistant Director on the functioning of the Foster Care Program and staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Assist in planning and providing orientation to prospective foster and adoptive parents.
B. Coordinate foster care services with staff from STVCC and other agencies.
C. Provide direct supervision to foster care case managers.
D. Train, supervise and support the foster care case managers.
E. Take foster care cases as needed depending on the needs of Child Welfare.
F. Assist in maintaining compliance with foster care rules and regulations, accreditation standards, and contracts.
G. Assist in developing and/or providing training for foster and/or adoptive parents.
H. Assist in maintaining current and accurate foster care files and records.
I. Assist Foster Care Program in the planning and placing of children in foster family homes.
J. Participate in 24 hour on-call rotation with Child Welfare Supervisors.
K. Participate in ongoing supervision, consulting and informing the Child Welfare Assistant Director on work-related issues.
L. Serve as program liaison between St. Vincent Catholic Charities and DHS, Family Court, CMH, and other appropriate collateral services.
M. Be knowledgeable about DHS policies and procedures and implement into the Foster Care Program as necessary.
N. Assist Child Welfare Assistant Director in completing all required administrative and programmatic tasks in a timely manner.
O. Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Welfare Assistant Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education and Experience: shall possess one of the following:

1. A Master’s Degree in social work and 1 year of experience as a social worker.
2. A Master’s Degree in sociology, psychology, or guidance and counseling and 2 years of experience as a social service worker.
3. A Bachelor’s Degree in sociology, psychology, social work, or guidance and counseling and 4 years of experience as a social worker in a child care organization. Two years of the 4 years of experience shall be in a child placing agency.

B. Registration, licenses, certifications or special training: Current driver license with current vehicle insurance.

This position is eligible for the 2017 Referral Bonus.
